The Northern Colorado band DoKaJoVi is based around the Fort Collins /Greeley area and is made up of experienced members who have opened for national acts such as Night Ranger, Eddie Money, Three Dog Night, America, Blood Sweat and Tears, Starship, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Ricky Van Shelton, Asleep at the Wheel, Heart, Sammy Hagar, World Classic Rockers and Quiet Riot as well as recorded with Randy Meisner of the Eagles.
Guitarist/Vocalist Karney Schumacher has been a staple in the northern Colorado music scene for 14 years while Don & Vicki Ullstrom have entertained crowds in Nebraska for a number of years before moving to Colorado the summer of 2005. Drummer/ Vocalist Ikaika Pekelo has toured with local rock and pop acts along with various musical theatre productions around the country. He has also worked in the studios: Backbone, 303, Coup, and the Blasting Room. Ikaika has been playing in the northern Colorado area with locally renowned jazz guitarists Bard Hoff and Kevin Karrick as well as the alternative rock country group Clint Clymer and the Outlaw Gypsies. Ikaika has also played with the island band The Tropical Coyotes and was the pit drummer/percussionist at the Carousel Dinner Theatre and Candlelight Dinner Playhouse. Ikaika studied at Colorado State University (Music Performance emphasis in Percussion) under Dr. Eric Hollenbeck, Shilo Stroman, and Leo Canale. Ikaika was also a featured soloist for: Jazz Ens. II, Jazz Combo I, Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.
Formed during the summer of 2006, Dokajovi hit it off almost immediately both musically and personally. Currently Dokajovi has played numerous venues in the Colorado/Nebraska area including conventions, class reunions, outdoor Independence Day concerts and the northern Colorado nightclub circuit. DoKaJoVi is a classic rock band that specializes in Rock & Roll from the 70’s and 80’s. However, to please a wide variety of audiences their set list also includes contemporary country, as well as music from the 50’s through today. Dokajovi’s song selection is geared to satisfy requests from many genres of music such as polka, big band, blues and disco. One unique side of Dokajovi’s stage show is they also love performing songs that involve audience participation. If the audience is enjoying the music and the people feel like they are part of the show, it makes it more fun for everyone. With four vocalists, Dokajovi includes songs rich in three and four part harmonies from bands such as Journey, The Eagles, and The Little River Band. Dokajovi’s stage presence, song choice, degree of professionalism and sound quality really sets them apart. With numerous years of stage experience behind them, Dokajovi is sure to energize the dance floor every time.
